It's the beginning of the school year. You are bound to have drama at some point. Use this opportunity before it begins to introduce the Drama Llama. The Drama Llama listens and hears the problems the children are having. They can tattle on each other all they want to the Drama Llama, he loves to hear their Drama! We keep the llama close so that we can listen in, and help if needed. Sometime we take what we hear and turn it into a discussion at the end of the day. Sometimes we take the child to the side and try and support them in gaining the skills to solve the issue themselves. We tell the kids if it is serious and someone is getting hurt or going to hurt themselves that they need to tell and adult and not the llama. This llama was a way to cut back on the unnecessary tattling and to try and support the kids in learning they can solve their own problems without having to ask an adult to solve them for us.
In the front of our classroom we have a parent area. This is where the families come in, the children take off their shoes, coats and backpacks. They hang coats and back packs on the hooks. In there area we keep all pertinent information that a parent needs to know. We also keep the same information on our school website.
